It is no secret that the 80s was definitely an era of loud clothing, hair and over the top 80s makeup. Madonna and Cyndi Lauper kicked off the mainstream looks of the decade and thousands of girls everywhere were frantically trying to look and dress the same. Time has indeed moved on since then and fashions have changed a lot, but what if you want to recreate that look? Here we detail all the essential steps you need to get looking authentically 80s:
1.) Firstly, to start off the 80s makeup look, you need to gather all of your tools of the trade. You will need some eyeliner (preferably black, although other colours work too, it’s up to your taste entirely), eye shadow (preferably either a very bright colour or a very dark colour as these will give the best effect), mascara, liquid foundation, powder, eyelash curler, makeup brushes and of course - lip gloss.
2.) Now you need to wash your face so that it is clean. Use a mild cleanser for this and make sure that your face is properly clean using warm water. Next, please ensure that your face is fully dry before applying the 80s makeup, it just won’t work doing it on a damp/wet face.
3.) Next, cover up any blemishes (such as under-eye circles and other dark spots) using the liquid foundation. Whatever you do, don’t try and cover up and spots and pimples by caking the foundation on them, this will look silly. For best results, apply the makeup with a proper makeup sponge. Using the cheap one that comes with the makeup or your fingers will not look as good.
4.) Take your 80s makeup brush, and apply powder all over your face. Try and make sure that you get a good even finish and that it is blended in properly.
5.) Now, using the eyeliner colour of your choice, apply some eyeliner to your top and bottom eyelids and also to the area of skin directly beneath your eyes. Make sure that you put on a significant amount - because you now need to smear it. Using your fingers, gently smear the makeup to give that great 80s look. One good tip you can use to stop it dripping is to brush some black eye shadow over the liner, it works a treat.
6.) Using the eyelash curler, curl your eyelashes upwards until they stay up by themselves. Then use the mascara to brush it onto the lashes, slowly and going up until you achieve that great striking 80s makeup look.
7.) The eye shadow can be applied as you would naturally; it’s up to you how you do it as you will have your own preferences on how you go about it. Although make sure that it at least comes up to your brow line for maximum effect.
8.) Go ahead and finish the look off by applying the lip gloss, preferably it will be the glittery, frosted type that will really finish the whole look off nicely.
9.) Go wild with your hairspray and tease your hair until it looks as you want it. Then, your 80s makeup is complete.

Romance is in full bloom. Marriage is on the minds of many people and there is a hint of love in the air. But how do you know if your partner is truly compatible with you and the relationship is going to work out? Nothing is certain in life and you cannot expect love astrology to answer all of those romantic questions and quests for you.
Finding a perfect mate is more than just luck and a few bits of wisdom. But many people want some reassurance that they are at least compatible with their romantic interest before investing a lot of precious time into the relationship.
Love astrology works by comparing the zodiac sign of your birth with that of the astrology sign that best compliments your particular strengths and weaknesses. There are cases of opposing zodiac signs working, yet often the astrology report will mention that great lengths must be taken in order to overcome the differences. It is not often that two people with the same astrology sign will be harmonious with each other, but it does happen.
With zodiac signs, the foretelling of events for the day, week or month are written out by an astrologer or someone who is very familiar with how the divination works. Perhaps it is some psychic bond with the cosmos that allows someone else to be able to foretell the future.
It could be that the astrologer is taking a generalized set of trait characteristics and applying it to the situation, while the reader is the one reading implications where none exist. Most astrology reports regarding love are very vague. Perhaps this is deliberate so that the reader has a choice when making his or her decisions based on astrology love reports.
One cannot deny that there are some bits of astrology love advice that do make sense and seem to be running along the same lines as that of the person’s general character. Take for example the zodiac sign Aquarius. Most Aquarians are independent by nature. They need a love compatibility that will balance them out with someone who will allow them their freedom, yet provide stable boundaries so they will feel protected.
For something like love astrology to work it takes a belief in the prognostication. For those who do not believe, they view these predictions and personality traits with skepticism. Others believe whole heartedly in their daily horoscope, and as such, treat it with reverence.
You have to decide for yourself if it is right for you and whether or not you believe. Perhaps the best of both worlds is to take everything you read with a grain of salt. After all, the best astrology can be wrong from time to time, depending on the individual.

How to Get a Flat Stomach For Life
Everyone asks the question “how to get a flat stomach”? It’s something we all crave. No matter what your age, a flat stomach makes you look and feel fantastic. But how do you achieve that lean, toned look and more to the point, how can you keep that flat stomach for life?
There’s no doubt about it, stomachs are getting bigger. It’s not just the huge beer bellies that we’ve become accustomed to seeing over the years. Women too are falling victim to ‘pot belly syndrome’ made even more noticeable with the increasing popularity of low slung jeans and exposed midriffs. So this leads us back to the question, “how to get a flat stomach”?
There has only ever really been one answer - diet and exercise.
Now I know what you’re thinking. You’re about to stop reading and say,
“Here we go again. Same old stuff. Salads, sit ups and crunches.”
Disappointing isn’t it? No miracle cure, no magic pill to pop that will suddenly turn that bulging belly into a toned flat stomach overnight. Unfortunately that’s the reality. If you really long for a flat stomach you’re going to have to work for it.
Having said that, it may be a lot simpler than you imagine. Tips like correcting posture, practising standing tall and straight, gently pulling your stomach in without holding your breath for example, can make a huge and immediate difference. Pilates, The Alexander Technique and Yoga will all help you realign your spine and stop slouching. Just by holding yourself up properly you can give the impression of being a dress/jeans size smaller.
The next step is to consider your weight. Achieving a flat stomach when you’re carrying too much excess weight is never going to be easy. You need to think about what you are eating, how much you are eating and the amount of energy you are burning off every day. If you have a very sedentary lifestyle it may simply be a case of increasing your daily activity levels. Going for walks, taking the stairs instead of the lift and generally making yourself move at a faster pace may be all you need to give your metabolism a boost. However if you are overeating you will have to consider changing your eating habits to shift excess weight.
This doesn’t necessarily mean taking drastic measures and forbidding yourself all the things you enjoy. Sometimes small changes may be all it takes to make the difference. Instead try exchanging full fat products for low fat, suck frozen grapes instead of boiled sweets, replace large chocolate bars with fun size chocolate treats and most importantly of all - eat slowly and chew everything to a pulp. It takes around 15 minutes for the signal from your stomach to reach your brain and tell it you’re full. Not only does eating slowly give your body time to process the correct messages it also helps prevent indigestion and bloating by breaking down the food properly before it reaches your stomach.
Lastly you need to consider toning exercises. Whether you choose to do crunches, yoga, pilates - it’s your choice. There are literally thousands of books, dvds and exercise classes to help you and these are going to be the ultimate step to finally give you that firm, flat stomach if it’s what you truly want.
So set your goals now:
- Stand tall and straight
- Increase your daily acitivity
- Make sensible adjustments to your diet
- Eat slowly and chew your food thoroughly to help prevent bloating
- Add some toning exercises to your routine
Start making these changes today and get that flat stomach for life.
